What Is Eco-Tourism?
The key components of an Eco-tourism conservation ethic are:
- An increased awareness of nature. The tour will provide an awareness, appreciation and understanding of the ecosystem and the need for preservation.
- Maximization of the economic benefits for local people. One of the greatest incentives for conservation among local populations is to establish tourism as an economic revenue source. As a result they will begin to view their habitat as a valuable resource not to be exploited.
- Encourage cultural sensitivity. The preservation of a cultural heritage, appreciation for the customs and traditions of native people and respect for their privacy and dignity are essential fundamentals of Eco-tourism.
- Minimization of negative impacts on the environment. Existing trails and infrastructure should be utilized. Eco-tourism does not seek to create new facilities but to preserve existing facilities and make them a sustainable economic resource.
Market Environment
The Eco-tourism marketplace in Morocco is relatively undeveloped. We are proud to be one of the first providers of tours in this rapidly growing global industry. Similar projects to this are currently or have been conducted in South America, Central America, many parts of Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States. According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO, a UN affiliate), tourism is the second largest industry in the world. In developing countries, tourism comprises one-third of their trade in goods and services. WTO projects that tourism will become the world's largest industry by the early 21st century.
